I am new to the board and needs some help with a Kenmore 117-812 that I have received from my mother in law. I need a diagram on how to wind the bobbin. There was no manual with the machine and it needs some major TLC. Wish me luck in getting it going!

OK, I don't have a diagram but here's how it's done. Put a spool of thread on the spool pin to the right rear of the pillar. Bring the thread forward to the bobbin winder tension on the bed in front of the pillar making sure it's between the tension disks. Then pull the thread up to the bobbin which is on the bobbin winder shaft. Stick the thread through the little hole, or wind it around the center of the bobbin, how ever you prefer, then lift the lever underneath the bobbin winder till it locks into place.
Turn the stop motion knob in the center of the hand wheel counter clockwise to release it, then using the foot controller start the machine. Run it till the bobbin is full. It should disengage when full.

That's about it.

FW case latches can be purchased. Don't ruin a good Kenmore case just get the latches.

I have been trying to find some FW latches and the handles. Could you tell me a good source? Thanks

Suzannne57,

Some time has passed since I posted that. I'll try to find the links I used to have before the last HD failure.

Suzanne57,

Here's a place that lists new and OEM latches: { http://pages.suddenlink.net/joyof301s/glenn.htm }
