Kenmore 117.959

Hi All, We are heading down to clean out my late MIL's home. She has a Kenmore 117.959 in a table. I don't have room for the table....but would like the machine. I know it has a flip down knee controller. Do you think this machine can be taken out of the table and put into a case?? I have only seen them in tables. I have several curved Singer cases and a couple of 99 suitcase style cases, if you think they might work. TIA for your help!! Merry Christmas

I think they would work. Measure the width between the screws that hold the machine into the table. If they match, you are okay. If not, you can drill new holes to match. We did this on a machine from Penneys. Check for old hankies and dollies. I am helping clean out my BIL place and what a job! They had about 15 pitcher and bowl sets. I will have to count later, and wash stands for all of them, and some wooden potty chairs with the blue and white enamel potties, even a spittoon to match. We are about half thru the boxes. We really laugh at some of the stuff because we do not want to think about their passing. Have fun.

Before you ditch the cabinet, try lifting the machine. I don't think the "football" is quite as heavy as some of the later
Kenmores (40 pounds) but I'll bet it's not a lightweight.

As soon as I read the question I know Janey would be all over it. Thank you, Janey, for all the help you have given so many people.
