Kenmore 117.959 problem

when i am done sewing and pull the fabric from under the foot the top thread is stuck in the bobbin hole.

If you turn the wheel by hand to raise the needle to remove the work, make sure you're turning it away from you...the wheel turns in the opposite direction of most machines.

i think i fixed it.the bobbin case was very dirty and the hole in the plate had rough edges.

So glad to hear she is okay. And thanks path49 for that bit of info on the wheel. I haven't started to sew on mine yet but that is an important thing to know.
peace

EDIT: Hey Ken, When you get some stitching done, give us a show. I'd love to see the nice work she does.

My DGM was a seamstress and my machine is the one she used.

My brother in law just got this machine, it's his first one. I got it threaded for him, and I've got the bobbin threaded properly and in place, but the needle isn't picking up the bobbin thread. Does anyone have any ideas?

I did note the reply about turning the wheel the other way, I don't remember if I tried that, so I'm going to try that the next time I'm over there.

He's only 12, and he's really excited to have a machine. I was so bummed I wasn't able to get it working for him.
