Kenmore 120-71

Help please - I was given a Sears and Roebuck Kenmore 120-71 sewing machine without a manual. Does it need a pedal to use? There seems to be no place to plug in a pedal and the power cord is independent.
Does anyone own such a machine and can give me any help on threading using this machine. Thank you, Diana |
Diana, it looks like maybe the base has a hole for a kneebar? (The hole in front?)
I'm sorry not to be more help, I really don't know much about these machines! |
There is a bar under neath that swivels and comes down but without a manual it is hard to say what it does. Hoping someone on here can help me out.

Pull that bar down, let it hang over the edge of the table, plug the machine in and press the bar with your knee...
Let us know what happens! :) |
Well we plugged it in and low and behold he runs. BUT he is dusty and dry so a friend took him to her house to clean, grease, oil etc to see if we can get the ole boy to work! But it doesn't have a pedal it is like a knee lift but it can be done from below the machine or from the front. So if anyone has a manual they would like to share for this machine, I would so be greatful.

:) I don't have a manual, but check the yahoo group for Old Kenmore sewing machines...I'm betting you can find one there!

I realize this is an old post--but on the off chance that the poster is still looking for this manual, I have pics of it on my photobucket account. I have this sewing machine, too, and it works great. XD
