Kenmore 158.14300
 

Hi,

My niece's machine is a Kenmore 158.14300.

I need some info on the feet it uses, which shank it is (low or slanted or both...lol)
Asking my Sister is out of the question. Mainly because her sense of sewing is nil. She sews (and I use that term very loosely) a button that falls off with a bent staple. Or hands it to our Mom when she comes to visit...lol

For instance.....today I called to ask about the presser feet.

Her response.......I only see one pedal not two......(by this time I am twitching) because she ....well nevermind..lol

Now my sister is no way a dingbat........well maybe after our last phone call.
She is an Architect/ Engineer.....she designs air duct work for high rises. But bless her heart she can't sew to save her life.

I guess I got all the good looks, most of the brains and all the domestic talents.....lol

It will either use low shank or high shank feet. The slant shank feet were unique to Singer.

Go to Sew-Classic, she has a chart in there that identifies the feet. Send that to your sister and have her compare what's on the machine to the chart. Or better yet have your niece check it out, it is her machine.

It takes low shank feet. If you go to Sears Parts Direct (online), you can see blow-ups of parts/original accessories for all Kenmore Sewing machines. Just type in the model #....really handy!

My niece is 9 yrs. old and since her Mom knows nil about sewing so does she...lol
Our Mom will be there in a couple weeks, she should be able to instruct Miss Nat on the basics of this machine.
I am trying to get a few accessories for her to have for her machine. A care package of sorts with some fabric, some precut squares and a few easy to sew patterns for stuffed animals, pillow cases etc. And some needles as well as a couple of other feet to use.

OK, I understand now.

She'll get a thrill out of it I'm sure.

I have that very machine and love it. It is a low shank and I purchased an adapter so I can use snap on feet from other machines. Very dependable and easy to use. Nice variety of stitches too.

Oh!! very nice. Do you have the info on that adapter?

7 rows down, center, is the snap on foot adapter. One row up on the right is a kit of snap on feet. There are other snap on feet on the page as well along with other goodies.

Chase, just remember what I have learned over the years, there are many educated idiots out there who can do what they went to school for and do it well, but figuring things out for them selves and solving problems in real world are beyond them. Had an Aunt who was a great teacher and crappy mother as far as making her 6 mind and no common sense either. Glad I take after my grandfather (who went throught third grade back in the late 1800's) and can look at stuff and figure it out, manuals help sometimes, but a gift not every one has so I treasure it. Sure your sister is great in many other ways.
