kenmore 1802 need advice today
I passed on buying this today. Kenmore 1802 comes in original cabinet, sewing chair, all cams, original book. the bobbin case is there and the motor comes on when plugged in. the lady
selling it bought it new but has not used it in 20 yrs she said. If it is still there tomorrow, I would like t have time to thread it an sew a little. She is asking $35, which seems like a steal. What do you think? thank you |
Steal. Go back now.

I'd definitely get it. If by chance it doesn't zig zag, it might just need oiled and manipulated. I know mine did.
I didn't see it mentioned, but does it come with the accessory "tower"? In addition to the cams, the tower has a monogrammer, and a bunch of feet. |
I agree! Go back and get it ASAP! If it hasn't been used in 20 years, it may be gummed-up with old oil, but should clean-up nice.
|
Oh I hope you RAN back to get it! That machine is one of Sear's Best machines and one of my favorites to sew on. Does it come with a set of Monogramers? It's very hard to find that machine with the monogramers.
|
What would the monogramers look at? it had a set of 3 yellow cases set into each other, I didn't have time to check on every thing what was what. It also had a long narrow case, that was missing its item. I have no clue what originally
came in it. an the owner di not know. |
The monogrammers usually come in a book type box.
Here's an example (just because it's easy, it's not mine) http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Kenm...item233a54a32a |

Here's an example (just because it's easy, it's not mine) http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Kenm...item233a54a32a I just checked mine, and there are actually four stacked boxes. One has the cams, the second one has the monogrammer, the third one has the feet, and the fourth one has the plate for the buttonhole attachment, screwdrivers, seam ripper, needle threader, and a couple more feet. In two separate boxes are a buttonhole attachment, and a chain stitch attachment. For some reason, Sears didn't supply a full set of letters with the monogrammer, so the missing ones would need to be sourced from somewhere. |
Check to see if reverse works.
