Light Bulb
 

The bulb in my Singer 328K burned out. It's quite a process to change the darn thing. I finally got the old one out and the bulb had no threads to screw it in, just 2 little pins that stick out to lock it into place. Do I have to find these exact bulbs or do the ones with the threads work?

They are quite common. They are called Bayonet base bulbs.

I have a hint for easy remove and insert of light bulbs. Get a piece about an inch to two inches of clear plastic tube, cut 4 little slits on one end, fit over bulb and turn.

It's called a 'bayonet' fitting bulb, and it's the norm in Australia and the UK. All my sewing machines take this type.

You can also find these bayonet (This is what they are called) type bulbs at Hancock's and some hardware stores. Be sure to check the wattage on your old bulb, before purchasing just one that looks like yours. I'm not sure but I think Hobby Lobby has some, and perhaps even Harbor Freight. You need to take your old bulb with you to be sure you are getting the right size on the end that goes into the machine. Some are short and fat or squatty, then some are long and slender. Some Quilt shops carry them.

Don't forget these go in and out with a "push and turn" action. It will be really easy once you figure out how to do it.
