Just have to say: your mom can't read your mind, so unless you know she's promised the machine to someone else, you should be sure she knows you love it.

After my father died and my mom moved I found that she had "downsized" and got rid of some items I loved and carefully kept some from my childhood for me that I didn't have any emotional connection to at all. I had only myself to blame, because she'd asked me if there was anything I wanted. I was too busy with little ones at the time to even think what there might have been until it was too late. She gave her old Kenmore in a great little parlor cabinet to my SIL, who later divorced my brother but kept that machine (although she does not sew!). Ouch!

Congrats on rescuing this nifty old machine.

Happy Birthday. You are so lucky to have found that beauty. Can't wait to see her all shined up. I went to the site that was posted on the history of your machine, but the website was unable to display it.

What a great birthday present...she will be gorgeous after her spa treatments

Margie 06-26-2011 01:01 PM

Is it electric or treadle?

QuiltingJaguar 06-26-2011 01:16 PM

WOW now where in the world did that come from?? Just love the name, never heard of it before. Could not get into the web site, played around with it and no go. Bet its got a story to tell...
My find at the Godwill Pound store this Friday was about 15 lbs of material, all kinds, fat quarters, larger 2 or 3 yd pieces, some scraps, lot of Batiks. Someone must have died or closed a quilt shop. When I get thru sorting them will take a photo and upload it for you to lick your lips over. Had my friend and her teen age granddaughter digging in these bins for me. Cost approx 20.00 for all of it. Everything is sold by the pound by the way.

I had trouble getting the website when I first tried the link...COPY AND THEN REMOVE THE FINAL DOT at the end and it comes up.

I was wondering how do you clean the older machines up. What do you use on the machine? I know how to do the wood cabinet or at least I used too!

roseOfsharon 06-26-2011 05:56 PM

Happy Birthday and what a grand birthday present! I too am sure she will clean up just lovely and the cabinet I would try and keep too!

This I just read and saved on cleaning old cabinets... hope this is helpful.

Gotta love those estate sales and the kind people who work them.

Quilter2B 06-26-2011 09:28 PM

Happy Birthday. It is not the cost of the gift that counts, right? She will be a beauty.

mountain deb 06-28-2011 04:48 AM

Another Cinderella story, don't you just love them?

Lovely!!! Lucky you....we NEVER see deals like that in California. Out here, everyone thinks their vintage/antique machines are made of 24K gold!!!

jayelee 06-29-2011 06:32 PM

Her workings seem to be alright everything thats supposed to move moves i feel like she is made of gold she is special

CarrieAnne 06-29-2011 06:41 PM

pretty!

Poodles 06-30-2011 11:26 AM

What do you use on the machine itself that won't take the decorations off of it. Make it shine and such?
