Our area had a junkfest today. Look what I found for $5. It is in disarray, but I love it. Does anyone know anything about it or could it be restored? thanks It is a mini about 6 inches high and 8 inches wide.

Sweet! I don't know anything about it, but it's a great buy!

Oh, that's fun!
I'm trying to see how the feed dogs are connected... And is that the tensioner on top of the machine? Very interesting...
Have fun playing with it!

Looks like a genuine antique. Check it with Victorian sweatshop forum before you do much to it.

What fun and a great find.

Would just be nice cleaned up and used as a "decorative" piece in your sewing space.

Great machine...

Is this going to be a restoration? If not, I agree with Karamarie, it's a great decorative piece.

This looks like a toy chainstitch machine called American Girl. I have a red one with a sticker underneath stating it was made by the National Sewing Machine Company. According to Glenda Thomas in Toy and Miniature Sewing Machines Book II, this toy appeared in the Sears Christmas catalog for 1936, and generally dates from the 1920s to 1930s. So it is close to being an official antique. Have fun cleaning it up!

It does look like a National made toy. What's left of the lettering on it looks like Eldredgette and it's virtually identical to mine.
