Looking for help with Davis treadle irons

In the process of trying to get the "wobble" out of the drive wheel, I removed the cone screw. I re-greased and replaced it. After a few rotations, wobble still present, the wheel "grabs" and screw is driven further in. Eventually, it becomes too tight to treadle and is difficult to back the screw out. The lock nut on the outside of the right leg keeps the screw from backing out, but it does nothing to keep it from going further in. Any ideas? I had another thought, also. Can the wobble in a drive/fly wheel be addressed from the pitman or would it always be the axle/cone screw? I am thinking if I can fix the wobble and it is well greased, the wheel won't grab. I've attached a picture of the cone screw.

Oh, it has been awhile since I had mine apart. First of all, the pittman arm won't change the wobble in the drive wheel, unless something is really off. My cone screw took a few tries with the new grease to settle in. What I am not remembering and causing me a bit on concern is the dark areas near the widest end of your screw. I thought mine has a shiny even taper all the way. Your dark band may have been caused by a century of wear. But don't freak out. I am going from old memories. Someone may have a more recent experience. And maybe even pics.

Pleased to tell you I am wrong. My cone has the same dark area and worked fine. Didn't remember even shooting this pic. Now I am trying to remember if there are inner and outer lock nuts. Hmm. 50 miles away from that treadle.

Perhaps I gently turned the drive wheel as I was screwing in the cone screw. Letting the wobble get settled out before I tightened it.
