Looking for information on the Elna 1400

I have been searching for some info on the Elna 1400. I have an opportunity to buy one (sight unseen) that was recently serviced by a reputable repair shop. I mainly want to use it to take to classes / travel with /etc. for piecing and general sewing.

Can anyone tell me anything about this machine? All I really have is a picture from a web site, so know that there are a variety of stitches. Does anyone know when these were made? I can't seem to find anything on the Elna website about this model. Anything you could tell me would be greatly appreciated as I know there is no manual with it.

Thanks
Yvonne

I googled and there is some interesting info on pattern review. Seems like it is a nice machine but very rare.

[email protected] Judy sells Elna machines. This is her e-mail address. The shop is located in Taylors, SC
Everyone working in the shop is very helpful.

I generally don't like buying machines that have a dearth of information, but if the price is low enough, I might take a gamble.

There is one listed on eBay at a fairly low price that has been for sale for a while.

The one on Ebay is "untested" so that may be why it hasn't sold. The one I am looking at has been serviced, so hopefully it is worth the $ 50. I have thought about your comment about buying something that has a dearth of information. You are right about that, but I think I am going to take a gamble on it anyway and see how it turns out. Lol

I have Googled and have not found much about it. Would love to find someone who knows something about the Elan 1400.

Thanks for the help so far.

I was on the Elna Yahoo group, and there was little information there as well. Looks like the 1400 might have been made in Taiwan.

$50 is probably a good price if the machine has recently been serviced.

I am going to ask about it on the Elna Yahoo group and see if anyone knows anything there. On Pattern Review someone said that the Elna 1200 or 1250 manual was also given out for the 1400. Does anyone have any information on those models? Thanks.
