Looking for needles for my 9W-7

OK, here we go. I just finished getting the 9w-7 I got from my SIL last week cleaned, lubed and ready to test sew. I have a few needles but if it works I'll need more.

So, Is there anyone here who has some: 127x1, Boye 18, (I can substitute MY 1014 needles) in sizes 14, 16, or 18, sharp point they'd sell?

If no one has any needles for sale, I'll gladly accept a link to a source for them.

Thanks,

Joe

I am frustrated and getting peeved. I've been told the MY 1014 needles are a common needle. Not so says all my Google and other searches. One source have I found and all they had was ball points. Those are useless to me.

Does anyone here have a source, a real genuine source for the MY 1014 needles in the normal sharp point 14, 16, 18 sizes? If not then this nice old 9W-7 might just end up as a door stop.

Have you contacted the Schmetz Company. I was told that needles for my 306W were no longer available at my machine repair... low and behold Schmetz does make the needle for that machine.. It took some conversation with them .. but I now have their needle number so I can order .

Have you checked eBay, Joe? That is where I bought mine when I got the machine. I also bought some from a OSMG. If you don't find any I can give you his number and you can call him. He does ship stuff. The needles were just pricier than what I was buying on eBay. He is in Illinois. I think all he had were 18s.

J Miller 07-26-2012 02:09 PM

I have looked in eBay and found zip. Maybe I'm looking in all the wrong places.

Where at in IL is your OSMG?

Joe

Robinson. Place is called Robinson Sew and Vac. His name is Carl.

Sorry. I had forgotten how they were sized. 18 is the Boye number you need and you are right that I don't see any on eBay right now.

I need some of those needles too Joe - will you post if you have any luck?
Could use more bobbins also . . .

Lyn,

If you need bobbins for the 9W-7 and it uses the flat sided bobbins, 221/301 bobbins work perfectly.
If you need the donut shaped ones, I'll keep my eyes open.

And yes when I find some needles I'll post where.

Lyn, and others,

Here is the response I got back from Schmetz regarding the MY 1014 needles with my original question at the bottom:

Re: MY 1014 Needles

This needle system is not part of our normal inventory. I would have to special order it from the SCHMETZ Industrial Division. They currently have the following available (as of 3:30 PM, Thursday, July 26, 2012):

Size 90/14 à 3 boxes
Size 100/16 à 1 box
Size 110 à SCHMETZ does not manufacture a MY 1014 needle in this size

The price is $95.80/box of 100 needles plus $15.00 shipping via UPS Ground in the continental United States. The needles would be drop-shipped to you. If you wish to place an order you will need to call me at (800) 527-2408, ext. 324. We accept all major credit cards.

Subject: MY 1014 needles

I am looking for MY 1014 needles. The only other Schmetz number I have is 34:22 1.
I'm specifically looking for size 14, 16, and 18 in sharp point type needles.

Thanks,
Joe
As far as I'm concerned this is out of my price league. Somewhere there has to be a source of this needle. And in my opinion this confirms my thoughts that this is not a common needle. So, back to the hunt.

Joe-
It's the donut shaped bobbins that I need. I've bid on some on Ebay, but when they go over $5 I give up. I'll follow this post and see if there is a good source for needles. Thanks!

Considering how rarium those donut bobbins are, you might have to bite the bullet and pay the high cost on them. Or, use the machine for a door stop.

If the one my SIL gave us had used the donuts I wouldn't even have considered using it. I would have just cleaned it up and put it on CL or something.

I've seen the donut bobbins sell for upward of $35 - $40 each....they're pretty hard to come by!

Try the FW bobbin, they seem work well in my Wheeler & Wilson #9. I just got the machine so I havn't done too much with it. My first W&W and I'm rather fond of it so far.

I do have one bobbin - guess I'm lazy and hate changing/wasting thread when a different color is needed. This would be a giant doorstop cuz it's in a library type cabinet that I understand is pretty rare.

No kidding?!?!?! I will get out the FW and try that bobbin - Thanks!
