Looking for part of Singer Circular Stitcher
Hi Everyone,
I tried to post this earlier but seemed to get "evicted" when I went to post, and then had trouble logging in for a while - it's as if the Quilting Board had thought I wasn't logged in and then didn't like it when I tried my brand new login. So, if you see another version of this question here, please forgive me. I don't think it is but I might not be the best at finding it if it did post. And while I waited to log back in I asked over at the Victorian Sweatshop and I know some of you are over there too. By some amazing luck I got an even more amazing surprise in a little box of old sewing machine attachments that arrived in the mail a few days ago. There was a Singer Circular Stitcher in there (SINGER 511188). It has no instructions and no box so I'm guessing nobody had any idea what it was for years and years. I can use it without the box and instructions but it is missing that little "cover" for the pin the fabric rotates on. I can probably make do with a cork but, having been this lucky already, I thought I'd just check to see if I can be a bit luckier and find someone who has that little part? I'm not sure what it's called or whether it had a number of its own so don't know quite how I'd search for anyone selling it. If any of you have one or know where I can get one please let me know. And finally, for any of you in the USA - Happy Thanksgiving, I know it is just around the corner... Megan |
I never heard of this. In fact, I may have one and not know it. Can you show a photo of the parts and the missing "link"?

bkay, Megan is looking for what is called the cap for the pivot pin. It is the white plastic piece for the Singer Circular Stitcher as seen at https://www.worthpoint.com/worthoped...ine-1917913838. Part of the instructions can be found at http://sewing-machines.blogspot.com/...tructions.html There are more complete instructions for using it in the 636 instruction manual, which also shows how to use it to make larger scallops. I actually have a couple of them and the piece is about 3/4" at the base and about 1/2" tall.
Janey - Neat people never make the exciting discoveries I do. Not affiliated with off-site link(s) |
Nope, I don't have one of those. Thanks, Janey.

You could use a substitute like cardboard, cork, margarine lid, an eraser, etc.

I just had a thought, while not quite similar in shape, but may hold tight. What about a back to a tie tack or a lapel pin?

Still making newbie mistakes, it seems

Not affiliated with off-site link(s) I'm sorry - you and everyone else must have thought I was ignoring you but I didn't realise I'd had any answers yet - and such good suggestions. These all look possible and I already have something similar to the first and third ones somewhere. I'll have to dig them up and try them because if they're "deep" enough for the pin I can't see why they wouldn't work just fine. Thank you and kind regards... Megan (and I think I've figured out how to get notified when people reply to me so I don't ignore them - my apologies again.) |
