I was given this machine. It is a Dressmaker, made in Japan. It has 2 cords to plug in. It doesn't have a foot pedal, there are 2 buttons to push for stitching. Has anyone seen one like this before ?

Do you have any photos of the underside of the machine and can you tell me what the markings are under it? And if you can show me the connection where the cords go. I can get the parts for this machine really easily and they are not all that expensive. I really love the looks of the Japanese machines from the 50's and early 60's!! Billy |

Billy , I've been waiting for you. The Model is 1603 , serial is 2621. J-A12. On it , it says Guaranteed by Western Sewing machine Dist. St . Louis , MO Made in Japan. The belt is badly worn . I'll be right back with more pictures. Thank you.

Okay the two plugs........The one that is real similar to the machines color is the one for the light. The other is the power cord for the motor. The thing is, it used to be in a cabinet and both plugs plugged into a central block that the foot or knee control tied into.
I need a few more photos one on the top of the motor or the back of the machine, and one of the underside of the motor around the wiring if you can get it. What is on the label under the bracket of the motor? And is there any JC numbers cast in the bed or on the edge of the bed? I didnt get much info on the JA number other than it share the same spot as a Central manufactured machine. The JC should get me the maker. Billy |

You know this machine is a really nice machine to have. It uses the Class 15 bobbins and they are readily available and the needles are a 15x1. After some cleaning and a good oiling and a polish you will have a machine to be very proud of!

Hello,
I have been searching a while for information on a Dressmaker Zigzag JA12 for a while now. This machine is very similar to what I have and I am missing the foot pedal and instruction manual. Is anyone still around to help with this model of sewing machine? Thanks, Tucker |
Hello, My Mom has an old Dressmaker sewing machine, 1960's, model # J-A12, JNZ 608916. The rubber wheel for winding the bobbin has cracked in pieces. Does anyone know where we can find just the rubber wheel? Everything else works just fine. Thanks, Elizabath

I think this thread is just about dead. I went to sewing express and they fixed my machine. It was very expensive though.
