Machine Shed - ready for visitors!
Which is good since SteveH and Heather will be stopping by on their way home.
This will be lots of pictures, so it will be in several posts. Right now there are 63 machines on display. Those on the floor (except one) are parts machines, and will be disassembled and moved out. I do have several that are duplicates of sort, so if I find others I want, they can be moved out. Once I get the attachments moved out of the house, I may have room to bring the dashboard machines back - and make more room for the older girls in the Shed. To the right of the door - top to bottom Favorite, Standard VS 3/4 size New Home, New Home VS New Home, New Home Rotary (early) New Home, New Home Rotary (late) http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...pswdotnyw9.jpg New Home, Free Westinghouse Rotary (this one could be swapped out, but it would be far down that list) New Royal, Free - New Royal class, VS Elder's Special, Free - New Royal class, VS (this one could be swapped out) http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...pskkwkrpzl.jpg Across from that we have: GE Sewhandy, Standard Rotary ( my nicest one is in the house) Anker, Anker SS Rotary (DH's machine) New Domestic, Domestic VS - chain stitch convertible http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...pszprbinl1.jpg Florence, Florence VS Hartford, Weed VS Household, Household VS Royal, Royal St. John VS (sews forward no matter what direction you treadle) http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...pshmskzu1c.jpg And to the left of the door 1st column Climax T, New Home VS 3/4 size Western Electric, National VS - has swing away motor and "foot" footpedal Montgomery Wards "Streamliner", National rotary Domestic, White Rotary 2nd column Wards Brunswick, National VS 3/4 size (possible swap out machine) Montgomery Wards (emblem only), Happy , Singer 15 clone Montgomery Wards, (Not sure, has tension leaf like June) VS White Rotary, White Embosed Family Rotary http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...psrouqsyb4.jpg And the lower section 1st column National, National VS 3/4 size, this is the one with the large round plates. White, Japanese made Transverse VS zigzag New Model, Foley & Williams VS, later http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...pshxty0rxy.jpg New Goodrich, Foley & Williams VS, earlier. I could swap out one of the F&W machines if needed - not sure which one though. Queen, White VS - takes White shuttle and bobbins, but is quite different from regular White VS machines. http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...psmxj4ia6j.jpg White Rotary, made in USA, White Family Rotary Wilcox & Gibbs Chain Stitch http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...psvhyprned.jpg Standard "slim", Standard Rotary w chain stitch ability http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...psanbokrba.jpg Standard "stout", Standard rotary with chain stitch ability (later model) http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...ps10v9smbn.jpg And the shelf to hold the cases. http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...psbfeu1sys.jpg http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...psavbo47qr.jpg |
On the work room wall
National Automatic, National (Wilcox Gibbs patent) http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...pspoglc2kf.jpg Eldredge Two Spool, National Rotary http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...psmhatctnr.jpg Next to it is the Singer parlor cabinet that we've turned into a "universal" treadle base. The Davis Vertical Feed is sitting in it - and I missed taking a picture of it! Down the middle Singer Patcher http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...pswb8yjfj3.jpg Wheeler Wilson 9, shorty, hand crank. Same height as full size, but not as long. http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...psrjt7lmal.jpg Demorest VS http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...psvndfopyy.jpg This one is not counted as SteveH will be taking it to CA. I hate to part with it, but I don't have room and I don't want to put it in storage. Once it's gone, I'll be able to walk past the window. Domestic http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...psyqhjv6zx.jpg |
Holy Moly! Seeing them all out and nicely lined really gives one a better feel about just how many and what kind of machines you have. Looks like you took SteveH's advice about "mounting" some of the machine heads on a board with dowels at the four corners to hold them up off the base. Pretty neat idea. Wish I could come for the day to poke around. Oh well, thanks at least for the great photos and text.

WOW! Amazing. Thank you, Cathy.

Thank you for the tour! If we ever make it back to SD, we will look you up for a visit!

Cathy this is a great display. You and your husband must be very proud of this fine work. Wonderful.

And the last two shelves
North side Capital, Davis VS 3/4 size. This one takes a shorter shuttle than the full size Alliance, Davis Rotary Sunshine, Davis VS, 15x1 needle http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...pswvkqsfkk.jpg Morse IV Dressmaker http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...ps0ynhjfch.jpg SBF - all three "dashboard" machines could be swapped out. I love these machines, but it turns out I don't have room for dashboard machines. Glad I only got a few of them before common sense caught up with me. White, White VS, earlier than the New Queen, but not a VS1 http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...psovqwwwpd.jpg South side Duplex, National VS 3/4 size (similar to the Wards Brunswick) Orchid #34, National VS (earlier than the Western Electric, but not by much) The Eldredge B, National VS, early - this one takes the same shuttle as the other Nationals. I'm still looking for a machine that takes teh Long shuttle (That would be an Eldredge that is pre-National and not converted to the short shuttle) http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...pslzqb2vbx.jpg New England Queen, National VS (seamstress style) American #7, American, VS shuttle with small round bobbin http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...psftwjlbdw.jpg Wheeler Wilson 9 The Free Long Bobbin Rotary, Free VS (and yes, it does say "long bobbin rotary" on it even though it's a VS machine. I guess the bobbin does go around inside the shuttle . . .) This one could be swapped out, but I love writing on it! http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...psmcegtewq.jpg |
