Which machine should I take to a craft show?
My wife is going to sign up for a craft show. They have electricity handy. I was thinking that if I sat there and assembled some of my whacky bags it might attract attention to our booth. Besides I hate sitting around doing nothing while the lookie loos walk by with their noses aimed at the ceiling.
So I have e-machines from 1909 is all the way up to the 50s. I've got a pretty blue clone I've named "Smokey" because the motor won't quit smoking. I've got to do something about it but I'm hoping it will burn itself clean. Or not. I've got way to many to list but some of them are: Minnesota Mdl B White Dressmaster - OD Green crinkle Kenmore 117-812 - Chocolate Brown crinkle Kenmore 117-7?? - Tan and chocolate brown crinkle Numerous Singers from 66s to 99s and others Moms old HOTHER 15 clone - pretty black. See my avatar. It just weights a ton. Singer 99 HC - basic old machine but it works Green later style 15 clone Due to space considerations in the truck a treadle is out of the question ..... :( So, any ideas??? Joe |

Make sure you have signed up for electricity unless you can bring a hand crank. I would go with the lightest.:)

Take a hand crank - that will attract attention.

I would go with the hand crank. If I saw you sewing with it, I would for sure go over and chat.

If not a treadle, I vote hand crank. No electricity to mess with, and people notice them better.

By all means, take the hand crank. It should attract a lot of attention. Also take a pretty clone or two, even if you don't use them. It is all about drawing customers in to look at your wares.

The green clone will make noise to attract attention as well as be cool to look at. Hand crank would guarantee you could work if electricity ends up being an issue, and for sure a conversation piece. Just remember you want folks to buy your wife's wares, not just be chatty Patties. Lol

The Vindex Special and the Franklin were the ones the kids all wanted to try. I had a red eye and a 27 but the others really attracted them. We let kids hand crank sew on paper bags. They were thrilled. We did use a needle guard. Adequate precaution and all that.

The person sewing would most likely be me. I got lots of whacky bags made and enough material to make many more. The idea of getting people to look is what I'm after. I suppose I could take two machines, one e-machine and the HC. Joe |
