Clockwise 1906 White family rotary

I just had to add my Aunts White it is a 1906. The bobbin slide plate is small and square. There is a wooden cover just to the left to access the bobbin. I have never seen any pictures of one like this. Is it rare? Or was the slide plate lost and a square one used with the wood one made to fill in?? I cant get the picture to post. too Big will get one smaller.

NopahDesertRat,

The slide plate or bobbin cover on your machine should look like the one on this machine:

Your's looks like somebody improvised a cover when the original was lost then made a cover for the hole.

I just saw a cabinet with the exact same opening this weekend...It had that little curved wooden piece with it so I think it is how the cabinet was made.
I have a machine FR born in 1913 that has the larger metal plate but a cabinet for a White that needs the squared off needle plate like yours. Maybe the cabinet was made to accept either type of needle plate and the little wooden insert could be used or not?

Cathie,

Hmmmm, learn something new every day. I'd not seen a cabinet / machine with the bobbin cover like NopahDesertRat's until now.
