Magnet stuck to featherweight

I purchased a featherweight. There is a magnet stuck to the light of the machine. How can I get the Magnet off ? I do want to get this baby painted.

Is it on with sticky pad, glue ...? If it hasn't gotten loose from the light being on ( heat) I might try putting my iron on the magnet and see if that loosens the glue? Be carefully not to get heat on the sewing machine paint! Next I would try hairspray or goo gone to see if it would dissolve. If that doesn't work I would the try something stronger like turpentine but that might take the paint off too.

I wouldn't try hairspray. The alcohol in it might hurt the finish.

I had one stuck to my FW that came yesterday and I just picked it off. was only stcuk to it by magnet. did not hurt anything. they had a needle stuck to it with thread on.

My 'go-to' person when I have question about my FW is www.novamontgomery.com

I am sure she will answer your e-mail if you send her your question.

Absolutely she is the best - helped me several times

If it is glued on, spray it with WD40. It will dissolve the glue and should not affect the paint. I have used WD40 to remove all sorts of glued items, stickers on doors, glass and anywhere I don't want a sticker. Good luck.

Nova Montgomery suggested kerosene. I have not tried to remove it yet.Nova said heat, and WD40 would hurt the finish. I just thought this post would help others.
