Well Steve, you continue to amaze us. Your talents make the rest of us feel so humbled. At least this vintage lover feels humbled. Keep up the good work. You successes encourage me to keep trying.

Quick question, do you think the metal/pewter is strong enough to be used as a gear. Like making a replica od a nylon gear within say a singer touch and sew type machine? I recently bought a singer 328 k its all metal except for one part that holds the motor in place. I was wondering if it was strong enough to work.

Very neat! Reminds me of my Dad making lead fishing sinkers years ago.

I am fairly sure the answer is the typical "it depends". If the gear is a transfer gear (in between two other gears and not under too much load it should work for a while but I would be REALLY worried about shavings and the like.

Funny you should ask because I was considering trying to make a gear copy for testing.

Brass or better yet Bronze, would be much better. I will be doing a reproduction next week using the clay/sand casting method and casting a bronze part. Photos will be posted here of course.
