Manual/instructions for New Automatic treadle sewing machine
Hi,
I m looking for an instruction /manual for a New Automatic treadle sewing machine. Thank you for any help ! America |
Hi,
Free is listed as a maker of "New Automatic" and possibly others. Here's "The Free" manual and it is also free: http://ismacs.net/free/manuals/freevs-c-e-ce-manual.pdf Jon |
I just have to ask ..... how can a treadle machine be labeled "New Automatic"? That seems oxymoronic to me but perhaps not.

Well, it does sound better than "Old Manual". :) |
I don’t know if it applies in this case, but the term “automatic”, even on what we consider an “old timey machine”, was usually associated with improvements to the machine. It could have been any number of new “bells and whistles” that hadn’t been seen before. The most obvious automatic innovation back in the day, was the addition of an “automatic” bobbin winder. With the new automatic bobbin winder, you no longer had to guide the thread wraps personally by hand to wind a bobbin. The “new” “automatic” bobbin winder had a little arm on it that did that exhausting task for the operator....

CD,
Good point. There are a few references in the manual to "Automatic Lift". Jon |
