It sure doesn't look like any of the 220v foot pedals I have seen on youtube. It looks to me that the tan wire should have been attached to the copper piece on the bottom. It looks like a piece has a jagged 'bit' out of it. I'm fairly certain that the copper piece should have very straight edges.
