Meh...what's a few more?

I been busy. :)

Here are four more I added to the herd.

First and foremost is a Necchi BU Supernova Automatica, a model I've wanted for a while. It's as smooth and powerful as you'd expect. What a wonderful machine. I really like the Necchi cabinet it's in, too.

The seller had a White 765 that he wanted gone, so he threw it in for free. It's in a very rickety Singer table that has been 'artfully' spray painted and faux-finished, adding to the machine's allure and value, no doubt. (Glad I bought that heat gun.) This is my second 765 -- I can't turn down a free, neglected, wonderful machine.

Next up is a Kenmore 1813. In another thread, I had written that buying a machine with a missing knob is an unknown: you might find a replacement the next day or you might wait 10 years. Depending on the machine, you might be better off buying a different machine than trying to find that knob and perhaps paying far more for it than the machine itself. This machine's in great shape save for the missing stitch selector knob (but just the part you turn -- the rest of it's still in the machine). This knob is common to several Kenmores and I found it on eBay a few days after purchasing the machine. $10 machine, $5 knob -- not too bad a deal, imho. It should be a very straightforward fix. Nice cabinet, too.

Finally, another Singer 301A that I purchased a couple of weeks ago for $20 from a CL seller. In great shape:

I absolutely love the Necchi cabinet!! It looks 1940's - it's not that old though is it?

"KRA you are getting as bad as me. I just keep adding to the herd."

My house is full but my heart isn't. I don't get it. I have no idea when I'll be sated. What is this need I keep trying to fill?

Early '60s, I believe. Mid-century mod!

That first cabinet is as pretty as the second is homely! LOL Great acquisitions!

I think (for me at least) it's the thrill of the hunt. The hunter/gatherer instinct is still pretty strong in us.
I do try to have a purpose in mind for any new purchases. I can't say it's a perfect system but it at least helps. I have the handcrank sewing project for kids and I'm starting a 4-H group with Roserips for sewing and a couple other things. I'm already giving one of the girls a machine because she doesn't have one of her own.

That Necchi is a great looking machine and the cabinet is a great mid century modern piece. I'm not a huge fan of the style. I do like the better examples though and that looks like a quality piece of furniture. The $20 301 was a complete steal. Actually I would have had trouble walking away from any of them. There might be a decent cabinet hiding under the White ( I do like the machine) but I'd have to see it in person before I decided whether it was worth the effort to save or not. I've had a few opportunities but still haven't pulled the trigger on the modern white colored Kenmores. I know they're good machines but they just don't attract me as much as the older ones.
It does look like you had a good weekend.
Rodney
