Minnesota K
 

I just got a Minnesota K treadle sewing machine. The serial number we believe is 16958k. Can anyone tell me what year this one is. It's in a beautifully carved oak treadle table. Both need a good cleaning but restoration seems to be minimal at this point... we haven't taken anything apart yet so we'll see.

Pictures please. I'm not familiar with the K model.

Minnesota K's were made for Sears by Davis and Domestic in the Teens. Davis models have the serial number on the front slide plate and begin with a "D" and are followed by a 6 or 7 digit number. Sounds like you have a Domestic which also made the Franklin, Minnesota A (which Davis and White also made) and H. Love to see some pics.

I recently got a Minnesota Rotary in the original cabinet that for $20, lady was asking $15, but as she sat down and showed me how it sewed through denim, I gave 20...I had no info about it either, so came here to ask, heres a link to my post and what I found:

Looks like she'll clean up nice and I noticed the "K" uses common 15x1 needles.

When you get a chance, I'd be real interested in seeing pics of the machine cleaned up, the underside, and the shuttle.
