I got one photo to post on my "Singers Everywhere" thread but not the others.

This is the back of the first mystery-to-me Singer.

Looks like a 99 to me! Nice decals on that one, much more ornate than the two 99's I have.

If you get the serial number, you can look it up online and get model number and the year the serial number was released. :)

That is a sweet 99! I love finding them in cabinets, as those with the smaller opening aren't near as common as the full sized ones.

You can tell it's a 99 even from the picture of the back because the head has the same dimensions above the arm as below. With the 66 - there is quite a bit more head below the arm than above.

Sewnoma - The number plate on the lower right reads "EF 644444" Is that the number you need?

MacyBaby - That's good hint to know - the head having the same dimensions above and below the "arm." I didn't know the "arm" term either!

This is the third identical cabinet I've seen since last summer. My 15-91 came in one also.

The second picture shows another machine behind the 99. It looks interesting to me. From what I can see it looks like another old straight stitcher but looks like it has a square arm and is not a 15 clone. Did you happen to look at that one too while you were there?

There's another easy way to tell that it's a 99 in a cabinet like that. See how much space there is from the left edge of the machine to the edge of the cabinet where the hinges are? At least 4 inches. A full size machine only has about two inches of space there.

Rodney, If/When I get to town I'll take photos of the blue machine. I'm sorry to say I didn't give it much attention. It's in a cabinet, too.

That's the one! You can look it up on ISMACS.net, they have a directory that lists most serial #'s for Singers and for several other manufacturers.

The site says this little gem is a 99K (so made in Scotland) and it was one of 60,000 serial numbers released January 5, 1950. :)

Nice touch with the skateboard in the background. I don't know if it's good, bad, or just out of touch with reality, but I am always surprised to learn that most people think anything from 1950 is a relic, "vintage", or antique. I believe I saw one of these machines as a hand-crank in one of the recent photos from the get together in Tumwater.
