Mutt treadle base

I have several machine heads with no treadle so I made a mutt out of a singer straight leg treadle. I made a top from scrap plywood and cut out the center to receive inserts for diff heads. The inserts are all the same to fit this cut out but the cut out in each insert is fitted to each machine. This insert is for my White VS. I chose the straight leg treadle because it is small and I can carry it to Toga and use whatever machine I decide to take. It took sometime to align the insert and the machine with wheel. It was not hard just had to measure carefully. It works great. I will make inserts for my chainstichers also.

Nice work Glenn and a great way to use different machines without taking up a lot of space.

Nice! I have intentions of making one of those too but I don't have any spare wood around. I have a couple of irons to use. I've been hunting for some inexpensive electric cabinets that I can use the tops for this project but the cabinets around here are priced too high for me. Your's looks really nice Glenn. That wood is beautiful.

Thanks, the wood is birch plywood I had left over from a house project.

Very clever, now my husband can put that on his list of honey do's. Thanks for sharing.

if folks have any interest, I have begun to map out the "cutout" for various machine for this kind of project.

My layouts include the location of the wheel/belt holes as well.

It started as a MUTT project, but kinda morphed into a "identify that treadle top" kinda thing.

So far I have the cutout layouts drafted for;
Howe A
Howe B
White VS1
Wheeler Wilson 8
Wheeler Wilson 12

If you have any with measurement to share let me know by PM (or email if you have it)

If you need one, PM me as well.
