Is my 221 different?

Was looking at shopgoodwill and saw this: http://www.shopgoodwill.com/viewItem...temID=13656542 with this description: This vintage 1950’s Singer Sewing Machine Model 678 3B has a Singer Sewing Motor Cat. 3-120 and uses 110-120Volts 0.4 Amp. 25-75 cycles A.C. & D.C. The Singer Sewing Motor Controller uses 95-145 Volts 0.7 Amperes and is part # 194584. This is what I have. There is also one on Ebay that also mentions this motor. Is there something different I'm missing or do all 221's have this motor?

The only Featherweight I have seen in person had a 0.4 amp motor. The controller may be able to handle 0.7 amps, though.

Nice of them to include all of that Kenmore stuff as shown in the second picture. That's worth $30-$40 alone.

0.4 Amps on the original singer motors for the featherweight. I wouldn't put on anything stronger personally.

Thx for your responses. Mine is the 0.4 amp. I was curious as to why they would highlight the Cat 3-120 motor. Is that standard for a 221 or something special?

No, they just don't know what information is useful so they put it all in.

I just had a look at the motor on my 222K and it has a 1.0 amp motor. I wonder if that's standard for a 222?
Never thought to look at it before!

The power (watts) is what you need to compare. Multiply Volts by Amps and get the power of the motor. In your case, it's enormous. Are you sure it's not 0.1A? 1A would mean it's a 240W motor, which would make it physically larger than an average one The standard Singer motor is about 20-30W.
