My first treadle
7 Attachment(s)
Here is a pic of my first treadle. Singer AH 784719, 1948 class 15. Found it on the way to the beach last week sitting in front of a thrift store. $25.00. Have it up and running after a lot of oil and blow dryer work. Runs nicely, makes a very even stitch. Ran it by turning the handwheel towards me. Cleaned up beautifully. Need to make a belt for it. My big issue now is what model of the class 15 is it. I tried Sandman's site, led me to believe it is a 15-96. But then I discovered that the bobbin case hinge opens on the right, the finger points to the left, needle goes flat to left and it is threaded right to left. Now I think it may be a 15-88. What do you all think?

I'm no help since even though she looks just like mine, I don't know what mine is other than a model 15. And mine needs a bobbin case and bobbins.

15-96... but I've been wrong before, and most likely will be again! :D

Hi Charlee,
I thought it was a 15-96 too, but the needle flat faces right and it threads left to right on the 15-96. It is the opposite on mine. I also thought a 15-91 because the flat part of the needle faces left like mine too. But the 15-91 is electric according to Ismac. Oh, help and bother, as Pooh would say.

Nice find; good for you!

I have one just like that, and the manual that came with it says it is for a 15-88 and 15-89, and the 15-89 is the hand crank version, so I it should be the 15-88.
The 15-96 looks like it has a different style of stitch selector, while the 15-88 has the same style as the 15-91. |
Good find Kitsy. I have a Sphinx mounted in a similar cabinet. But my cabinet is not as nice as yours.
|
I'm picking up a 1935 this week that has the same cabinet, all I know so far is that it is a 15. I hope we can compare notes, yours looks really nice.

Thanks mlmack for confirming the model for me. Would love to have a manual, will keep looking.
