my first treadle

My gift to myself - I saw this on marketplace and fell in love with the cabinet and than the machine itself. Next month she will be 100 years old. Amazing she is great shape. Just printed out instruction manual and will go step by step to learn about her. I will be prepared this winter!

Beautiful, always wanted and still do a treadle like that. I just love the cabinet, so simple in its design.

I haven't seen a Redeye in a parlor cabinet. She's a beauty! I have 2 Damascus in parlor cabinets, both of which need to be cleaned and oiled. I have several others besides! My advice is to clean it, oil it, use it, and keep it cleaned and oiled - including the treadling parts. The Treadle Lady has an Etsy store and sells many treadle-related items, including belts. She is also on Instagram and has videos there. Learn about your treasure and how to care for it. Enjoy it for another 100 years!

You will want metal class 66 bobbins. I would not get the ones like https://www.amazon.com/SINGER-2139-C...002G3YNBG?th=1 as they do not have a smooth top.

After you get the treadle and the head oiled up, practice before you sew. leave it unthreaded with the presser foot up and work on a steady rhythm. It is very easy to get ti wrong. that reverses the movement. If it is threaded, it will snap the thread and cause you to have to rethread it over and over. Work on the rhythm until you can talk to someone while you are treadling

If you look for more feet/attachements, note that this earlier 66 model takes the older style back clamp feet. They can be found, but are usually more expensive than the traditional low shank feet.
