I hope someone can help me identify this machine and also locate a manuel. Thanks,Gina |
I'm no help, but that's a cool machine! Looks like a knock off of a Featherweight.

I am no help, but really cool machine!!!!!

That's a nice looking machine. A lightweight straight stitch machine is always a pleasure to have for quilting. It is probably Japanese made from 50s or 60s. You probably won't find a manual, but I'm not sure you need one for a SS machine. It looks like the threading is pretty straight forward and any low shank feet will fit.
Take off all easily removable parts, clean and oil everything that moves or might move - don't forget the underside. Thread it and see how it sews. How is the wiring? If you don't want it, it can come live with me. |
Looks like a knock off of the FW. Good find I bet she is a great little machine.
|
Fun find! Hope you get her cleaned up and sewing!

Elaine says: Need more pics. Front, Back, ends top, and move back a bit so the whole machine gets in the pic.
And it's a SEWMOR FEATHER-LITE 110 ROCKET. :D I know I shouldn't be a smart alleck. That is a very interesting machine. Had I seen it I would have ripped my pants pocket off getting my wallet out to buy it. ( I have a 'thing' for SEWMORs. ) I'm not sure where to get a manual for it though. I checked Relics and they didn't have one. Joe |
Thanks to all. I kinda figured it was a knock-off Featherweight or 301, since it looks like the 301. The wiring is a little brittle, and the light goes out if not in the right position. I will have to replace that. I thought it was a cute little thing when I bought it, thought I would take it to sew days with my guild.
I'll let y'all know how she does when I get her all cleaned up and oiled. Thanks again,Gina |
I'm so glad you stole that machine. WOW. Have some fun with that one.
|
Great find...I'd like to see it side by side with the 221-.
|
You were pretty lucky to find that! I've never seen one like it... Never seen anything but the Singer featherweights with the flip up table! It's got to be made in the 50's by the looks of it. In those days lots of dept. stores (Sears, Montgomery Ward, etc.) were having machines made in Japan that they could "brand" and sell exclusively in their stores. I wonder if this was one of those brands.
It's certainly cool-looking enough to sit on display, whether you ever get it sewing or not. |
I was thinking the same as sewbizgirl. The name "SewMor", maybe a Sears Kenmore model of the FW ??
|
Nice looking machine...hope you get a lot of use from it....

I love making things more convenient, it's gives me a boost of energy! You use your space well! Now get busy making a cover for your chair and get rid of the garbage bag! Your fanny deserves the best! :p

Strange... my earlier post went into this thread instead of the one where it was originally posted. Gremlins?
