My Morse sewing machine
1 Attachment(s)
Have you heard of Morse sewing machines. I have this machine since 1970 and it sewed beautifully until today. Lol...no the fork did not stab it, the fork is on my fireplace front) For some reason when I was cleaning and oiling it, the feeder dogs stopped feeding my material when I tried to sew. I can't figure out why so (sigh) guess I'll have to send it to the repair shop. Sad me.

I meant to say, I acquired the machine in 1970. I have no idea of the true age of the machine. Does anyone?

I have one, but have never use it! boy are they Heavy or I should say we used it as a counter balance to put my quilt frame together LOL

she is really pretty...something might be worn down...don't despair..somebody might know what is wrong and how to fix it!
|
This is probably an obvious question, but I'm always doing something like this: Is the machine set to darning instead of regular sewing? The feed dogs would still move but wouldn't be raised.
I love the color, it's a beautiful machine. |
Have you considered adjusting your foot pressure? Or, are your feed dogs not moving at all? She is a beaut!!

Fixed my Morse sewing machine!
I looked repeatedly at the undercarriage workings and how it worked and discovered one of the rod joint connections were frozen and would not move the feed dogs back and forth. Once I "gently" forcibly moved it..the feed dogs started working properly. Right away with the machine oil to that point. Yippee! No repair bill! I am so proud of myself..lol.

Glad you were able to get it fixed!! :-)

The Morse is a Japanese clone made in the 1950s. Love the color by the way.

Another thing to check when the machine won't feed correctly is the pressure button (above the presser bar). I had a time once figuring out why my machine was acting crazy until I realized that I had released the pressure. Once I pushed it back down a bit it worked like a charm. :o

So glad that you figured it out! I love the color of your machine. I have a Japanese clone that looks sort of like yours but mine is turquoise blue. Did you post a pic of your machine in the thread for "model 15 clones" ? I think the name of the thread is something like..."Will the real model 15 please stand up"

The Morse was my first sewing machine, back in the late 50's. Sewed many a dress while in college. Loved it.
Except for the weight, of course! |
I'm impressed, yah for you
|
Good for you. These machines are great for staying out of the repair shops.
