My mother's featherweight?
I have just started quilting and reading this board and this is my first time to post so if i do something wrong please forgive me anf tell mne. I got my mom's featherweight out because everyone was raving about them. It took me a while to get the carrier open. i wwas sutprised to see it seemed to be in good shape until I saw there wasa no bobbin case. I can't find a model number on it. I'm anxious to start using it(hope my stitches are as pretty as my mom's) Can someone help?

Can you post a picture?
The model number is probably on a little plaque on the right side of the pillar of the machine. :) Is the bobbin case perhaps in the box of attachments? You can buy vintage replacements and modern repro replacements for the bobbin case. Jenny at Sew Classic is a really terrific online seller and she carries a high-quality modern repro for about $40. http://shop.sew-classic.com/Bobbin-C...-SCBC45751.htm |
Another really good site is April 1930's.

Are you talking about the serial number? It is under the bottom plate. Remove it with the thumbscrew about in the center. Once you have it off, it is a good time to check the condition of the felt pad. They can get pretty ugly.
It is not uncommon to be missing the bobbin case. I hope you find yours. Dayle |
Try your locla singer dealer...she should be able to track one down for you

Guy Baker at http://www.sewingmachineparts.net/ should be able to get one for you. He is great to deal with!

Some of the machines that were manufactured in the 1930's do not have a model no. I called Singer and gave them the serial number and they told me the model no and the year mine was manufactured. I had to be persistent when calling them because I kept getting a busy signal but I finally got through.

Hope you get a bobbin case soon. You'll love sewing on that machine!

A Singer Spartan or a Singer 99 is the same size and use a drop in bobbin. Do show us a picture of your machine.
