Nice find, it looks like it's not used much with its' intact decals. Don't trust the cloth covered wiring, they are always in terrible condition. The woven outer part can be fine, but the inner rubber part is crumbling away. The motor and pedal will run fine after rewiring and a bit of attention. I just had to mention it in case. My 1934 99 went out with a bang (bad capacitors) and blew a fuse before it was handed in for rewiring.

There is no way I would dare plug this one in! The cord is frayed, cracked, dirty. Etc. I have named her Gertrude or Aunt Gertie after a favorite aunt.

It's a nice machine, runs light and smooth, and stitches most things with ease. I handed my 99 in to a repair shop for rewiring, but later on I found a lot of info and advice on the web. I feel up to the job my self now, even if it's quite a bit of work for an amateur, soldering wire ends and getting everything right.

Congrats on your "new" machine! She's pretty!

Gertie is going in for a major rewire and cleaning. I suspect she has only had one other owner from the look of the house in which she lived. It was old and seemed to have been closed for a long time. The yard was overgrown to put it mildly. We had to search through bushes to get to the front door. The most modern thing in there was some Corning Ware. It was like walking way back in time.

I've got to ask, Did you mean 99-13 rather than 15? They are neat little machines.

I saw one at thrift store the other day, but it didn't have the knee bar.

Janey - Neat people never make the exciting discoveries I do.

Yes, it is a 99-13. (Oops). This one never had a knee bar...there is no hole on the case.

It has the early type pedal too, I think there were two types before the rectangular bakelite pedal were made, aka button controller. The other early type had a foot shaped upper piece you pressed down. I hope yours is serviceable, most of the carbon resistor types should clean up and get good again.

I put a hand crank on my 99. She's my power failure machine LOL. :)
