My new machine

No cost! Including the cabinet. I did find a manual online and printed it out (all 68 pages). I haven't even plugged it in yet. I have noticed there isn't a presser foot with it...just the knee bar, which I have never used one before but have heard good things about. Going to take it to a sewing shop and have it cleaned and serviced as it is very dirty!

Forgot to mention it is a Singer AP 676059 Touch & Sew Deluxe Zig Zag Model 628

My mother's sewing machine had a knee bar. Once you get use to it, it is great. I think her's was a Sears.

I think I see a presser foot in the photo. No?

I believe she means the foot controller. Which is probably there too, under the cabinet.

My mom's Singer has the foot control mounted on the right inside cabinet.

Your Touch & Sew uses the black Singer Top Hat cams. It also uses slant shank feet. Both are easily available on EBay. It uses a special two piece bobbin. Yours uses the ones with the white rings on it. They're still available new. I bought some from Hancock Fabrics about 2 years ago.
The only issue I know of with Touch & Sews is they use plastic gears that are old and brittle and prone to fail. It's true of other machines built around the same time too.
As long as the gears are good it should be a good machine. You might be able to clean and oil it yourself and save some money.

I have one of these that my SIL gave me last summer. She wanted it out of her house. No presser foot. It had not been used in more years then I could count. I cleaned and oiled (It sucked up the oil like there was no tomorrow). Runs like a champ.
