My new (old) sewing machines

I've been busy getting to know my new machines. Ended up winning bids on 2 different machines about a month ago. First one is a featherweight. 2nd is it's big sister, the 301A. Have purchased the tri-flo oil and recommended grease and learned about cleaning and lubricating them; also ordered a quilting (darning) foot for the 301A. Love the sound of the steady, sturdy and metalic clicking as I sew with these machines. I can see the featherweight will be great for piecing, and I think I should keep the 301A just ready for fmq.

You will enjoy your Featherweight so much. It is a delightful little machine, so quiet, accurate and dependable. I am on the lookout for a 301A myself, have heard so many good things here about using it for fmq. Have fun sewing on your new babies.

Those are the two I have! I bought mine in the fall of 2012. I'm JUST beginning to use them for sewing... Went to a featherweight maintenance class by Nova Montgomery last weekend and now am more confident about how to maintain these machines. I'm looking forward to using them, and teaching others to sew, too.

I own a bunch of LBOW 301s- just the best for quilting and piecing! Easy to maintain. The gear driven machines sew so evenly. I was able to get an all metal FM foot which is so much better than the plastic ones. Great choice!

I'm still learning.... guessing that LB stands for long bed?? don't know about the initials OW?? I first ordered the less expensive FM foot that was all plastic. Needed to remove the part that cuts the thread to allow more room for that foot. Hated it! Went ahead an ordered the all metal one and LOVE it. I learned from so many of you that the 301A's are great machines for fmq, which I so much want to keep learning. Thank's to everyone here whom I keep learning from.

I thought I was the only one that did something silly like bid on a 301 since I didn't think I could afford a Featherweight then found a Featherweight in Great condition for a reasonable price!! Now I have both, delivered within 10 days of each other! And and I'm keeping them both.! I also have a Bernina 1031 that I've had for 20 years. I am so excited and ready to "SEW LIKE THE WIND" my 2 girls just shook their heads. Neither sew much but I'm betting they will I did order Daves DVD and book so that I could do maintenance , since he covers both! Congrats on your machines I hope you are as excited as I am with mine. Enjoy and use to the MAX Raine54RN

Light Beige Oyster White...I love all my 301's. Have black and taupe also. I call them the triplets. Love them for free motion quilting. Take my FW to mini-group and workshops...and have taken both in our travel trailer. I love these little machines! Enjoy and congrats.
