Here are pictures of the Elna "Grasshopper". It runs very smoothly and I guess my knee muscle memory from 48 years ago is pretty good because I adjusted to the knee control without any problem! Much more room around the needle than a featherweight--taller and wider. It will be great for piecing when I have the other machine set up for quilting. (Now I have a featherweight that I don't need. Hmm!)

Very nice.

She's a beauty :D:D:D

That is the CUTEST little baby I've ever seen. Have fun with it, glad it works for you.
|
Nice Machine!
|
That sure is a cute machine!

Amazing machine. I am not familiar with the "knee" reference...do you control the machine with your knee on a control arm rather than a presser foot?
If so....that is really cool. |

Interesting, I had never see that until your pictures. I know about the old treadles (I have one!!!) but yours is really neat. I would love to try that some time.
The wrap around case to table is also pure genious (sp)too. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your new baby! |
Beautiful!! Is she light weight? Because I am sorry, but a Featherweight may be called Featherweight, but she is definitely, not light.
|
You have done well grasshopper :)
One of these lovely's hope to cross my path someday... |
Nice looking machine, enjoy !!!
|
that is so cool that the case goes around it to make a bed. Congratulations, you've "rescued" a fine machine.
|
She is beautiful.
|
Beautiful. Enjoy.

My birthday present when I was 12 was a pale green one and I loved it! Made all of my own clothes and many for my friends through high school. Now I have a 1934 black beauty in great condition but I prefer the Elna. So I will sell the Featherweight. |

Now I have a 1934 black beauty in great condition but I prefer the Elna. So I will sell the Featherweight. I had a 1940's Pfaff when I first got married, many years ago. I still regret giving her up. For me, I HATE the very light machines. I have a little inexpensive Brother, and it stitches well, but it dances and vibrates and makes me insane. I want the darn thing to stay in one place and sew! Now the Juki (all metal) does not go anywhere. Just purrs.... I'm waiting for my Atlas to arrive, so I can show her off. She can be Grasshopper's pal. |
So will that be her name "Grasshopper" ? Looks like a fine machine
|
Like your new toy , I have never seen one of these before.
