My 'New' Treadle, Update

2 Attachment(s)
From Joe: It's a 66 for sure, a -4 I think. Mid to late 20s perhaps newer. It's got the side clamp feet, those were introduced on the 66s in 23 or 24 IIRC.

Joe, what's -4, can't figure that part out yet. Also, side clamp refers to the pressure foot is put on from the side?

Thanks so much, everyone, for all the information. I've saved it all. It's a little bit overwhelming, but I'm learning as I go! I'm beginning to clean her up a bit, but not brave enough to start taking parts off yet! :) Here's what I've done so far and she's going to be beautiful!!! I don't have any more time today to work on it, but when I do I've read enough on this board to know I need to take pictures, take pictures, take pictures!

There appear to be some 'pits' on this that I can't clean off.

Cindy,

The "-4" is part of the model number that shows a design change. The model # would be 66-4.
If you go to ISMACS at: { http://www.ismacs.net/singer_sewing_...ist/index.html }, click on the ( Classes 1 to 99 ) section then scroll down to the 66s you can read about the changes and features.

Go here: { http://www.ismacs.net/singer_sewing_...-database.html } to date the machine.

"Side clamp feet" is just another way to describe "Low Shank" feet.

Cindy,

I recently cleaned up an old National Two Spool which I had inherited. The balance wheel was really showing a lot of corrosion. I used, only on the plated or chromed parts the same cleaner I use on my ceramic-top range. It works better than metal polish and left a beautiful shine!
