This is my newest baby I named her Judy

I have a friend who owns a quilt shop in Winchester, KY. Well one day a friend and I went to buy some fabrics and just inside the front door sat two lonely Singer Treadle machines and one just called out to me and said "Take me Home". Well I had her hold it for me and now Judy is my newest member to my family.

I am not sure what year she was born there are lots of patten numbers on her plate, but I just love her. I even got a brand new belt for her. I want to add some attachments later on, hopefuly next year.

The best part is that she was asking $100 for her and I had some of my punched cards from the shop so my Judy only cost me $70 cash, hubby was please with the savings lol.

I still have to clean her up but not sure what is safe to use on her as I don't want to cause any damage to the wood or to her. Any advice would be apprecated.

Wow! Such a beauty...her decals are in excellent shape, and looks like a little "washing up" will really make her shine.
There is a lot of reference info on the board about cleaning machines, a search should yield some products that others
recommend. Congrats on your new adoptee and have fun!

Judy is beautiful! What a lucky find. Hopefully you will be sewing on her in no time.

Lots of OOOOHs and AHHHs here! A Sphinx is on my wish list.

OOOOH. She's pretty. I have a Judy too. A Singer 500 Rocketeer. I named her after Judy Jetson.

Beautiful machine! Decals are in great shape too. Just clean the machine with sewing oil; all the dirt and oil oil will come off. Follow MUV's cleaning tutorial posted too!

Looking forward to seeing your first project from her. Enjoy!

Hi, I know the shop you are talking about. Isn't the owner's name Judy? I really enjoy her shop. Congratulation on your new "old" fine. I am not far from you, Jeffersonville.

The decals on Judy look perfect!! I clean the outside of my vintage machines with plain old sewing machine oil. Rub it on with your fingers and then gently wipe it off with soft rags or cotton balls. I use Maas metal cleaner on the chrome and it comes out beautiful.
