Awesome!! But what took her so long? lol
|
That is really sweet of her to even think of giving it to you.

Wow, what a generous sister. Post pics when the new ladies come. I don't know what a Sphinx or a Redeye is, can you educate me?
|
What a great visit with your sister! Please post after you stop doing the Happy Dance.

My sister came for a visit today. I was showing her my small but growing collection of vintage sewing machines. I mentioned to her that my goal was to add a Redeye and a Feather Weight to the collection. She says, "Oh I have two Redeyes and a Sphinx. My daughter is not interested in either, would you like one"? Oh goodness, I had no idea she had those machines or that she even sewed anymore. I am hoping that she will be bringing me one on her next visit. She said that she has not looked at any of them in a long time. Whoo Hooo for me I hope.:D
It is a shame when the young do not appreciate the old machines. doglover |
Can I have the one you don't want? hehe
My sister got my grandmother's "white" treadle that she used until the 70's and got rid of it because after it set for a while "it didn't work". But she also didn't sew and had no interest in it. I found this past summer that I have the manual to that machine with the date my grandmother bought it. 1917 before she was married. Oh, well. It's gone and I have others to enjoy instead. :) |
My sis told me she would leave me our great-grandmothers treadle in her will. Thanks, I hope I outlive her but probably won't get to enjoy it much.
Glad you get yours now. |
They are both such beautiful machines!! Very happy for you :D

You can post them for sale, they will go to a good home. I would love a 301, but Kentucky is far from Delaware. My dd's and dil do not quilt, but one featherweight is with my one daughter who does sew infrequently.

How nice for you, sounds like a gift made on the machine may be in order in the future!:)
