This is my first attempt at attaching pictures and I really wanted to put it into the Vintage Section but can't figure that out.
The first picture is my treadle that I acquired in 1983 or '84.

Thank you spartan, I'm going to try to use Billy's tutorial to clean the Sphinx up, have ordered the missing bobbin cover and will start soon. Lots of work before I do the "after" pix.

This is another of my lovelies.

Since nobody else posted it, here is the link for you to add your pics to the 'Vintage' area. To get there without the link, go to 'home' at the top of this page, then at the bottom you will find 'vintage sewing machine shop'. That's where this is

I posted this to the Virtual forum for you for more views. The one that you show as a 128 is really a 99. The other one with the Blackside finish is a 128. Either way that is a nice grouping of machines!

Thank you everyone. Have fallen in love with the older machines, might be my age!, and they all work. I also have my mom's little Elna that I sewed on til I left home and got my own machine. Should probably add the picture of that on here too.

I'm spending too much time now looking for more! Better call it a collection and quit buying. . . maybe.

There are more machines out there that need you....

MamaLinda 08-12-2011 02:17 PM

You know JustTrish that I'm hearing some of them calling me . . . need to turn the volume down though.

ssuzz 10-01-2011 07:58 PM

I need some parts for my Sphinx Singer , where did you get yours..thanks Ssuzz

MamaLinda 10-02-2011 07:42 AM

Found a great source, Stitches in Time. They are in Lake City, MN, [email protected] and Cindy was so very helpful. Good luck.

ssuzz 10-02-2011 08:19 AM

thanks for the info

sewingsusie 11-19-2011 06:40 AM

I went from one machine to 4 in a few months.

sewingsusie 11-19-2011 06:41 AM

how do you go about dating them?

Try this link:

http://www.singerco.com/support/machineSerialNumbers

It used to have more information but now it is just the basics. You could try calling Singer and get the info from them.

miriam 11-24-2011 03:12 AM

you do not need to totally dis-assemble that machine very much to get it cleaned up unless you are planning to a) have someone else re-assemble it or b) repaint the machine. Check out Muv & Fav's videos. http://www.quiltingboard.com/vintage...v-t167789.html
