As to the Domestic, you really need a picture as early on Domestic changed and copied Singer - using their needles and shuttle and side clamp. Then White took over and Domestic became a White in different clothing- and that vintage machines takes what fits White (different needles and feet) . I think the Domestic Rotarys may all be White machines. It's easy enough to tell from a picture. However, at some point White changed to side clamp and size 15 needles - but if it's top clamp, it will most likely take longer needles.

Early Domestics are a very different breed - and have special needles, shuttle, bobbins and feet. But they sure are fun!. If it's got a fiddle base, then it's the oldest type.

I'll second what Joe said. That machine is in beautiful condition! Congratulations on your find. I sure hope you can get it reasonably!

Rach, GRAB that two-spool machine! Transport it carefully. Don't let anyone put food or drink or a plant on it. If I could find one, especially in that condition, I'd grab it immediately even if the price was on the high side. What a prize! I'm drooling. I've been looking for just that machine for years now (I'm in New England and haven't seen any). And the cabinet is great. Rach, you have wonderful beginner's luck! Do you have any idea what a good score that is? I would buy it in a New York minute, no matter what the budget was doing.

is that two spool the same as this one i saw in CL here ? for $175, is this Eldredge a steal too?

Oh my gosh! I didn't think I'd get so much help! Wow....totally blown away guys, thank you SO much guys! I feel lucky to have found a two spool, but I feel even luckier that there are so many on here that are willing to help me out. I actually spent the day pondering if I am making the right choice buying this machine (they are asking $150 btw...but, I'm going to offer $100 (just to see what happens)), and now I think I am. I was most hesitant about not being able to do different stitches on this machine, but now learning that I can add a zigzag, I'm over the moon! I honestly can't thank you enough for the help. I really hope that I'll be so lucky to get continued help when I get this machine home (picking it up Friday).

As for the "New Domestic", here are some pictures. I'm going to look at it Sunday, with it being so late (errr...early), I doubt any of you will see this before I go look it over. At any rate, I won't be able to pick it up until next week, so if there's something, I'll see the warnings before I buy. Enjoy the following pics.....asking price is $100.

Here is what the post says....
"Pre-1910 New Domestic treadle sewing machine with bonnet hood. Sewing machine and bonnet can be removed. Leaf on the left side. Center drawer is full of original parts and tools."

When I look it over tomorrow, I'll be able to see what is all there. Seeing as how this is the oldest style (fiddle front), will this machine be a nightmare finding parts for? Again, I thank you guys for all the info!
