Necchi BC
My neighbor gave me an old Necchi BC that she found at our Church swap last summer. It is in wonderful condition however I am at a loss as to how to thread this guy! Don't want to keep trying and retrying in case I eventually break something on this beautiful machine. Haven't been able to find any videos or anything about it online, most things I find are for the 50's 60's versions and this is the late 40's early 50's machine (I think). It's a straight stitch only machine and I am looking forward to learning to quilt with it. Any help is much appreciated. Oh and I can put up a picture here if that helps. Thanks!

I have one too, let me check it out tonight. They are not very common but are rock solid.

Thanks so much! Looking forward to using it!

I kind of doubt if anything would break if it isn't threaded right. Needle in backwards might break the needle. Did you have it serviced? They should have showed you how to thread it then.

Sorry, got wrapped up in a different project last night and did not pull the Necchi out. I'll try tonight.

Thanks everyone! No I didn't have it serviced. We live way out of town. It's a good 2 1/2 hrs to any repair/servicing shop so I'm trying to get it done online. Amelia (thankfully) let me know about a yahoo group where I can get a manual for it! :D I'm patiently waiting.. well maybe not that patiently.

Can you explain better about the check spring? Is it located in the same groove with the hooked thread guide? Do you just bring the thread under both of them together?
I have a machine with no name that has elements of a Necchi BC and BDU, I haven't seen others with the check spring in this location. I need to figure out how to thread it correctly and am trying to find out more about it. |
No I haven't yet Miriam. I have read about another machine that sounded like it had the same set-up so I am trying to get an idea on the threading. I think it IS supposed to be where it is. It IS weird tho.
I started trying to remove the faceplate yesterday and noticed its A. very firmly stuck and B. the lower screw goes through that side securing the check spring. |
