Need help for Singer sewing machine
 

Hi so I have just found my grandma’s sewing machine. The spool pin is missing and I was wondering if I can buy any spool pin to replace it or if it needs to be made for this machine (if so may I have the link to one I can get ).thank you very muchhttps://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/smile.png

You have a 99k, hand crank machine. The serial number was allocated in December of 1947, so may not have been actually manufactured until 1948. There is a manual for a later 99 machine at https://www.manualslib.com/manual/15...-Class-99.html It is for an electric machine (but has instructions for hand crank), with reverse stitch length and numbered tension dial. But, the oiling and threading would be the same. You will want to oil it with sewing machine oil. You can also wipe it down with sewing machine oil, so that you don't ruin the decals.


It appears that it would take a tap-in spool pin number 2007. Your machine would have originally taken a metal spool pin, but a plastic one would work. As indicated on https://www.sewingpartsonline.com/sp...g-machine.aspx it fits many other Singer machines as well.

And if you are in a hurry you can use a shortened wooden kabab skewer. Good looking machine. My GR and I do demos with 99 HCs. ( and others)
