Need help with White 764 please
 

Just found a White 764 today. One cord for light one for power, no foot pedal, no place to plug one in? What am I missing here? The machine looks good, some chips, thread holder was snapped off. Love the old car look of this machine, kind of champagne on top, lighter on bottom. Runs like gangbusters if you plug in the cord wrong.:D Anyone have experience with these machines? Thanks.

Sounds like the receptacle block and foot pedal is missing for whatever reason. The block is wired to plug in on one end, it has the foot pedal wired on the other and two receptacles. One receptacle is worked by the pedal to control the motor and the other is for the light. Replacements are available from Sew-Classic.com.

the part you are missing is almost always attached to the cabinet or case - and if you only got the machine, that is why. It makes it real easy to take the machine in and out of the cabinet wired this way, most of my "dashboard" machines are like this. There is usually one screw holding the block in place, so it's not much to remove and take with, but often the machine is taken by someone without a clue - and they don't realize they should be removing that also.

Sort of like all the machines you see for sale that are missing foot pedals - people grab granny's machine but don't think to look for the power cord.

Thanks a lot everyone. This machine was just sitting in it's little case on the floor of a junk store, no parts or anything else. I'm sure someone just took it out of a cabinet as it has those one direction plugs. My husband fried a new foot controller from my plastic broken POS Singer, apparently because it's meant to communicate with a computerized machine it won't work for a vintage one.
