Need Info on FAIR machine
 

I am looking at this machine but want to find some information on this brand. Any input??

Welcome to the QuiltingBoard! That is a clone of a Singer model 15. If you search this board for "15 clone" you will find some general information. These machines were manufactured in Japan after WWII, the US having provided the engineering information for the Singer model 15, to help rebuild the Japanese economy. They were manufactured by the millions and have just about every name across the arm you can imagine (within reason). "Fair" could have been a regional store somewhere that wanted a machine to sell with its name on it, or...it could have just been a word someone decided to put on a machine.

As Joe said, it is a 15 clone and a manual for these machines can be found at https://ismacs.net/singer_sewing_mac...ion-manual.pdf There are some that think that these are even better than the Singer 15s that they were modeled after.

Good call, Joe. I found a Wikipedia link which says Montgomery Wards bought the store in 1957 and " these stores retained the Fair nameplate, and one more Fair Store would open, at Randhurst Mall in 1962."

Thanks for the info. It doesn't look electric, but post will seems pretty late for treadle. Any idea about that?

It does have a motor boss on it, so it is possible someone just took the motor off. You could add a motor or a hand crank since it has the spoked hand wheel. Here is a review from 2011 for a Janome treadle machine. https://kathieskabin.blogspot.com/20...nome-712t.html

By any chance is there either a JA or JC with number after either stamped or cast in the bottom of the machine?
