Need info on Standard Sewing Machine Co. Sewhandy

I think I made a huge mistake. I found a Sewhandy, not the Singer model 20, but the Sewhandy made by the Standard Sewing Machine Company. Evidently it was manufactured after the GE Model A and before the Singer Featherweight. It looked decent and had attachments with it. It was $85 and had its original case. I just bought a featherweight this week and felt guilty buying another machine so soon. Plus I am out of space. But now I think I made a huge mistake.
What do you all think? Should I go back and get it tomorrow? Here is a link to a pic

go get it it is way cute

For $85, I would definitely go back for it. I think the Sewhandy is a really interesting machine. And it's so small, so even if you're out of space, I'm sure you could find a little place for it, right? :)

Here's one I refinished. They're very cute machines. http://www.quiltingboard.com/vintage...d-t225795.html

Yes, you made a huge mistake. Especially if it is a black one. And if you don't want to keep it, send me a pm.

amcatanzaro 04-06-2014 08:32 AM

Go get it.

Silly lady, asking us.

Caroline S 04-06-2014 09:42 AM

Definitely collectable. Go get it girl. Won't take up much space.

lovelyl 04-06-2014 10:27 AM

I think I will get it if it is still there tomorrow. We were almost the last people out of the shop before it closed, so if I go early it should still be there.
It seems like it not a very common machine, and it is small... Cathy, you will be the first to know if I decide not to keep it. Amcatanzaro, no, it wasn't found in your neck of the woods, even though you didn't ask. Another antique store find near Hamilton, OH!
I'll post pics if she is still up for adoption tomorrow. DH told me to go ahead and get it, even though he said just a few days ago that I didn't need any more machines. He is such an enabler, I should have listened. Then he would have been there to carry it to the car for me...:o

They can't all be here. :D I only ask when you say you went for a drive. Someday we will cross paths.

Need to watch out for Miriam, she likes long drives into Ohio on pretty days.

Before I could go to get the machine, my dr. Office called to change my appointment. So, thought I would go after that, but family issues have interfered. It is probably gone now. Hopefully I can go tomorrow because my surgery has been scheduled now for Thursday. Guess it wasn't meant to be...

I have a GE Sewhandy sewing machine I would love to rehome. I bought it used, lol. It has the original receipt, all cords, case is in good shape for the age. I have cleaned and serviced the machine. I can't get it to run. The light does turn on. I am in Oregon If interested shoot me a message.

breaks my heart that you missed it. Hope surgery goes well, and you are up and about quilting and sharing with us.

I am heading to Ohio this coming week. I am searching for a bobbin case for my Standard Sewhandy.

I am free for a meet up but I don’t need any more machines. Way too many kicking around here.
