Need more info

I need a zipper foot for my 301, as I have to put some zippers in purses for Christmas presents. There are two different ones on ebay 161 127 and 121 877 that say they both fit a featherweight. The difference in cost is 15$. Ideas?

Also there is a 533 on Craigs List that looks to be in great shape, with a cabinet (which I don't have room for) for 75.00$ I want this to sew on because it has the free arm. Ideas here, too?

Thanks in Advance

Sound like you have money to burn - try Sew-classic for the zipper feet - she has info on buying the correct feet too

533 what - Singer or something else? If it is plastic it will break.

If the zipper foot says it will fit a Featherweight, it will not fit your 301. The Featherweight takes low shank feet, and the 301 takes slant shank feet.

The vintage zipper foot I have for one of my 301s is #161166 and the other one is #160689. Look for one of those numbers and it should fit.

A Singer 533 is a stylist model, built after Singer started using plastic gears. Could be trouble if the gears are crumbling by now. I'd avoid it.

Thanks to both of you and am following your advice.

The donated 533 I gave to my GD sews a great straight stitch, but the zigzag gears are shot. All you get is a scary clunk, so it's a SS machine unless my son wants to replace the gear.
