Need Singer ID info

Can anyone tell me what model this Singer is and what I should pay for it at an estate sale? We shall assume it is working. Other than the cover, does it look complete?

Thanks,

Diane

Looks like a Model 185 with all of the important parts, though a shot of the front would help.

I like to stay around $30-$50, unless it is unusual, popular, or something I really want, though price is really subjective.

Definitely looks like a 185. I paid 15.00 for mine in a cabinet. It is my go to machine for piecing. Love, love, love it. Besides sewing so evenly it is cute too.

thanks to you both! I was looking at some other Singers and discovered it was a 185. It appears to be in great condition and the wiring looks original and in great shape, except for the twisiting on the foot pedal. I guess I'll go up to $50 for it. It is very cute. This is the only picture of it from the sale page.

I'd love to find this 185 !

The 185 is a 99 in a fancy green dress, they are nice machines.

I paid a lot more than $15 for the last one I got and it needed extreme make over... If someone used 3-in-1 oil it can take a lot of work.......

On that thought Miriam, do you or anyone know of a person in the Salem, NH area who refurbishes Singers?

Too bad about a "refurbisher" in Salem, NH. It looks like you're going to have to "DIY" and my money says you can do it and will love doing it, with help from your friends here on the board. But that 185 doesn't look like it needs anything but cleaning up, and anyone with a little bit of patience can do that. Good luck. It is beautiful, and now I am looking for one.....
