Need willpower . . .
looked on Craigslist and found a Singer 24 in a treadle cabinet . . . only problem is it's 4 hours away, and I've got so much other stuff that needs to be done. . .
But I so want to get a treadle cabinet for a chainstitch machine. I need to be strong - there will be others that come my way . . . and besides, I don't have room for what I've already got . . . |
Sad condition is it not ? being such a good home for machines in need and not being able to store them all ?
|
Oh that would be hard. Maybe you should try and convince yourself the machine you have would not fit the cabinet. Or there must be some terrible flaw in the cabinet or they would not be letting it go?
But 4 hours does make for a nice road trip..... |
resistance is futile......

Good news - there is also a quilt show in Mankato tomorrow and we normally head through Mankato on the way. Now to see if it's still there . . . |
so much for will power, got set up to pick it up tomorrow around 9:30.
Now I'm gonna call on the White in the Martha Washington cabinet - if I'm going to make the trip, might as well get more than one. |
I agree. A four hour road trip is a nice mini vacation.

Heather just said the same "go for it"... |
Can you still see the Jolly Green Giant in Le Seuer from 169? If so, wave for me.

When I was young I owned a 61 Corvair briefly. I had bigger plans than I did budget and never did restore it. They are neat cars. I never thought anybody did any kind of racing with them though.
Macybaby I think you made the right decision. Yes, there will be others but when and in what condition? I think you would be waiting a while before you found another one in good condition. Rodney |
Have a nice time on your little road trip....

Finally back home - with three machines and cabinets, a new Weber grill and lights for the shed. A rather spendy trip - and I didn't even buy any fabric at the Quilt Show (but did get a new ruler - plus lots of ideas!)
The cabinets will get unloaded tomorrow - here are the machines The Singer 24 - very sweet machine and the cabinet is nice also. http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...ps6yo8h96q.jpg Singer 319 - This was her Grandma's machine, that her Mother bought as a gift for Grandma when the machine was new. This is a well used machine, and shows it - still turns nice and smooth, and I'm happy to have Erma join my Singer collection. The cabinet is the desk style that I really like. The machine is missing the bobbin case, but DH had bought a spare for my other 319 (green one) long ago, and the 306K I just picked up takes the same one (I know there are two styles, and all three take the same one). http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...psuql6jggm.jpg And the White Rotary - that came in a Martha Washington cabinet. The missing parts for the machine are in the cabinet. http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...pstf21n1ot.jpg |
Great haul! I like the decals on the 24. The 319 was a great find too-especially in black. I'm a little surprised you didn't already have a Martha Washington cabinet. They turn up pretty frequently here. There was one south of me posted on CL for about a year for around $40 that just wasn't selling. It might still be available.

Cathy,
A nice haul and good days work. The Singer 24 CS is exceptionally nice. Jon |
