Wow! You have a thoughtful son! Nice machine too! :)
|
You certainly raised that one right. Looks like a little cleaning and oiling is all it will need. Maybe a new belt and rubber on the bobbin winder. No timing to worry about in these machines. I have 2 # 66's and 1 #99 that were much worse. I have a project going on all three right now. Yes, when I get tired of working on one I slide to the next.

Beautiful! Looks like it is in really good condition. My mother had one just like it that she sewed all of my and my sister's clothes on when I was a child in the 50's. (shhh, don't tell) She taught me to sew on it, too. In the mid-60's my dad won new Kenmore for her in a contest. I wish I knew what happened to that old treadle.
Is that another one I see in the background of your photo? |
Wow! You raised them right, huh?? Nice!
|
Oops. I thought you said sonS!

I saw one of the (I think they are called) Redeye Singers, with all the gold and red scrollwork on it but needing refurbishment, in a nice treadle table, on the sidewalk of a house as I drove by, sign said "75.00."
Dontchaknow my car stopped, I checked the wheel to see if the machine was frozen - it was not! I tried to raise anyone in the house, even the backyard, but no one answered. Left a note in the mailbox. When I went back by today, no machine. No call either. Oh well. I hope someone who loves it got it. . |
