Needle hitting face plate an md the bobbin Hook
The wife just bought a second hand Japanese Precision Deluxe model 35- it’s a nice machine but when the needle comes down the needle hits the face plate- if u take the face plate off- the needle hits the bobbin hook and it all jams up- does anyone have any repair tips for me. Thanks.

Welcome, Tspivey.
I'm thinking that pictures might help. It sounds like something is possibly bent or misplaced as the needle itself is always below the face plate. If the needle hits the bobbin and not the needle plate, it may need to be timed ormaybe the parts need to be cleaned and put in properly. I'm guessing you have what is called a 15 clone. More info can be found at http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...p-t164361.html If you don't have a manual for it, one can be found at http://ismacs.net/singer_sewing_mach...ion-manual.pdf Janey - Neat people never make the exciting discoveries I do. |
assuming you put a new needle in, rather than the one that came with the machine, have you checked the orientation? Your machine needs the eye hole facing toward the post, rather than you.
welcome to the board! Jump in the water is fine... |
Is your needle in correctly? This has happened to me and I have removed the needle and checked the manual only to find I have inserted the needle incorrectly.

Make sure the flat side of the needle shank is next to the needle bar.
If the needle is in correctly and it still hits you could have a bent needle bar. |
